All the recent media coverage about Wainwright - the greatest Lake District guide-book writer of them all - has re-ignited the spark of ambition in some fell-walkers. And many walkers, previously not really interested in summit-bagging, are now fired up with enthusiasm for knocking off some of the tops he described so beautifully in his books - the Wainwrights, as they have come to be called.
But how to go about it?
Well, come on a Knobbly Stick guided walking holiday and we'll make it easier for you. Let us worry about the logistics and the navigation and the accommodation and the weather. All you need to do is put the effort in and get up the hills.
Our holiday bases at Keswick, Ullswater and Ambleside give us access to most of Wainwright's 214 tops, but this year we are offering something special - the chance to do his Top Ten - his ten favourites that is, not the ten highest, and these are:

Most of these need a day each, and we are not proposing a single 10 day holiday to do them all.although you never know. We suggest you join one of our existing holidays at Keswick or Ambleside, from where we can do 5 of the Top 10 from each place.
The accommodation, prices and details are given elsewhere in this website - just click on the appropriate link here - Ambleside, Keswick, B&B bargain breaks.
If you want to make it a personal project and have a bash at all ten in one go, please use the Contact Us form (or give us a ring on 01539 737576) and we'd be delighted to have a chat with you about it.
Rain or shine, we can promise you one of British hill-walking's most satisfying experiences - all without the need for ropes, oxygen masks and other pointless paraphernalia!
