The 3 peaks country holiday at the Traddock, Austwick

Stainforth Force
Stainforth Force

The 3 Peaks of Yorkshire: situated in the Yorkshire Dales - a region of northern England with many unspoiled areas, a wealth of interesting nooks and crannies to explore and some great hiking. The scenery is just stunning, with miles of open country, rolling hills with limestone outcrops, potholes and limestone pavements.

Austwick: the village where we stay, is the epitome of an English country village, a post office, a village school, a pub and a church - and that's about it. And it's a great centre for walking.

The walking: we can do the famous 3 Peaks of Yorkshire - Whernside, Ingleborough and Penyghent, which are, in fact, 3 flat topped hills of just under 2500 feet) one by one. We won't do all 3 at the same time, although some over-vigorous folk do. As day walks, the 3 Peaks are a medium strenuous day out. Alternatively, we can just explore the valleys and look at the abundant wildlife and sites of interest. It's up to you! Whether it's climbing the hills, walking along riverbanks, crossing limestone pavements or looking (from a safe distance)! down potholes, it's all just great!
