So you fancy tackling the Coast to Coast? Good idea - it's one of the best loved walks anywhere in the world.
But how? How can we make it easier?
Firstly, it's a good idea not to do it on your own. It always helps to have a companion or two, or even more, to encourage you, and, most importantly, it helps to have someone along who knows the way!
Secondly, it's good to know that, at the end of each day, you'll end up somewhere comfortable, where you can get a hot bath or shower, a meal and put your feet up. Furthermore, as you finish each stage, you won't have to go looking for the place you are staying, but you will be taken to it.
Make no mistake, the Coast to Coast is a serious proposition for the average walker, so in order to maximise your chances of success, and, of course, to enjoy it (which is, after all what it's all about) you need to be able to concentrate all your efforts of doing the walking. Let Knobbly Stick take care of the organisation, finding the way and generally facilitating your progress.

The walk, from St Bees Head on the west coast of northern England to Robin Hood's Bay on the east coast, is, quite rightly, one of the best known and best loved of all long distance walks. The route covers some 190 miles (about 300 Km) and is a serious proposition for most people. With Knobbly Stick, however, we can reduce the strain as much as possible. We'll make sure that you are properly looked after. There'll be no looking at the map for you, as we do the guiding. We'll pick you up at the end of each day's walking or hiking and make sure you get back to a drink, hot shower/ bath and a restorative meal, and we'll generally look after you by making sure that you have a back up all the way. The route is long, and covers some wild country if the weather is bad (fantastically good country if the weather is good)! but Knobbly Stick will be with you for every step of the way.
With us, the Coast to Coast lasts 15 walking days (16 nights,) with the longest day being slightly less than 20 miles. The average length of the walking day is about 14 miles, and most of it is on footpaths rather than road. The route covers some of the finest country you will find anywhere. This is a once in a lifetime achievement, so come and do it now, in 2008, with Knobbly Stick.
