What makes a Knobbly Stick guided walking holiday different?

Enjoyment and comfort
We say walking should be enjoyable. After a hard (or easy) day's walking, a relaxing drink (be it a cup of tea, a glass of wine, a G&T or a pint of beer), followed by a pleasant meal with good company and a comfortable place to lay your head. That's what it's all about.
The places we visit
We choose the best places to walk. The English Lake District, immortalised by William Wordsworth and, more recently, by master guide book writer and walker, Alfred Wainwright.
The Yorkshire Dales, famous for "Calendar Girls" and also given the Wainwright treatment.
And, somewhere Wainwright never went, so far as we know, but a place he would surely have loved, County Mayo on the west coast of Ireland.
Variety
We do all sorts of walks on a guided walking holiday / hiking tour. We can conquer high peaks, if that's what you want to do, or just meander along the valley bottoms, or do something in between. All the places we go have loads of walking that fits neatly into the "moderate to strenuous" bracket.

Choice
As there are nearly always two guides on each guided walking holiday, it is quite simple to split the group into two parties. This frequently happens - sometimes for just part of a day - so that you can choose between the "easy option" and the more challenging one each day.
Relaxation
There's probably no better antidote to the stresses of modern life than a few days getting a bit of exercise, listening to the sounds of the hills and just getting away from it all. And, of course, we can fill you in on some of the local history, wildlife, geology and various tall tales.even in French or Spanish if you want. And if you are a solo traveller, what better way to meet other walkers and join a group? Remember, there is no single supplement on our hotel-based guided walking holidays.
The English Lake District is a walkers' paradise. Breathtaking scenery, hills that everyone can climb without the aid of ropes, pitons etc, lakes and streams - and all within easy reach of the rest of the UK by road or rail.lake district details
The Yorkshire Dales is a comparatively undiscovered area for walkers with its broad green landscapes broken up by limestone outcrops, grey stone walls, streams and potholes. The English great outdoors at its best, and easily reached from the rest of the UK.yorkshire dales details
This area on the Atlantic seaboard of Ireland remains almost totally unspoiled, and you won't find many fellow-walkers there. It's also of great historical interest and a Knobbly Stick guided walking holiday there is an unforgettable experience.ireland details
Some people like the idea of walking from A to B, so why not join us for a week on the Dales Way, or just over two weeks on the Coast to Coast walk across northern England.long distance trails details
